Hello and welcome to the Lothian studio-tour. Please keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle at all times. Enjoy your ride!
During this series, of which this one is the very first, I will try to sketch the sets on which my RKC-sims live, thus showing the houses they inhabit. Please keep in my that I build none of these houses myself. I did alter a lot of them, and I did the decorating of all of them myself.
I’m an awful builder, but I love trying to give the houses an old feel and decorating them as I see fit for the family. Ready? Here we go? For each house I have the outside shot and then an overhead shot of each floor plus one “internal” shot, showing one of my favourite rooms, typical for that house.
First we see the Paulus residence. Who are they? Well, the Paulus’ are the parents of the girl Marcus had his affair with while away for Aedelheath. And Jacob Paulus is the illegitimate son of princes Calendra and her servant love Patrick.
This is their house, it’s quite spacious!

The top floor is still an empty loft, though you can see through to the bedrooms below.

On the first floor are the master bedroom, the eldest daughter’s bedroom, but since Calendra is now living with her husband, it remains unused. There is also the boys room and a bathroom.

And this is the living room-kitchen-dining room. I figured that in the lower class houses, though the Pauluses have really done well for themselves, kitchen and living area would be in the same space.

And this is a “mood shot” of the sitting area. It was often cold during wintertime, but luckily the Pauluses have a fireplace and a lot of wood ready!

Second up is the Ruffia castle. Remember Benjamin Ruffia, who married his peasant sweetheart Anna? Well, this is where they live. Looks like rain though…

The top view, with the towers.

The tallest tower hosts a small bedroom, usually occupied by the non-ruling heir. Ben never slept here as his parents died when he was born, so he always had the master suite.

The second floor, with master bed, nursery, bathroom and children’s bedroom, close by the parents. I often use it as a guest room as well.

The ground floor, with kitchen and dining area, plus the hygienic facilities.

First cellar, with a sitting area for the family and a lovely blazing fireplace.

And finally the dungeons. What can I say. The first count Ruffia had them build. They have not yet been used, even though Benjamin I and Eloise did retreat here to play out their fantasies…

I love the look of the dining area and the kitchen. To me, it really feels like a small castle. Notice the ceiling? I’m in the process of installing ceiling tiles in all my houses, though it’s a lot of clicking work and I haven’t done all the houses.

And third, and last for today, the Tudor house. No, not the royal castle, this is Alderick’s house. Or rather, was, before he got banished. Now his wife and children live here alone. Poor woman. It’s a nice, comfortable house though.

On the top floor there are the master bedroom, a bathroom, a nursery and two double bedrooms. Alderick had big plans for his family, though not necessarily with his wife…

On the ground floor is a cosy living room by the first fire place, a kitchen and dining area, with a second fireplace. If you watched closely, you will notice that the master bedroom also has a fireplace. Yes, the richer, the more fires in a house, in my opinion…

And this is one of my favourite living rooms in the entire kingdom. It’s cosy and feel awfully homey. Notice the nations crest hanging on the wall, showing the royal blood that flows in the veins of the inhabitants!

This concludes part one of our studio tour. As there are many houses in Lothian, I think it will take me at least another four or five of these tours to show you all of the houses I am currently posting about. And then there is still a lot to explain about who lives where in the land, so this new category is nowhere near finished! Check for updates regularly, as I plan to explain more about the layout of Lothian and about the hierarchy between it’s inhabitants. Plus there are a lot of people you haven’t met, whose houses you have yet to see!
Thank you for riding with us today and please follow the cue line to the second tour!

That was fun!
I love seeing into others’ houses and castles… so much inspiration. Especially the Ruffia castle… I have occasionally tried to place my castles on hilltops but they end up looking silly. Makes me want to try again.
And do I spy me a well in the basement of the castle? I love that idea…

I love tours too! I think it\’s easier for the readers to picture if they know what the sets look like.

Thank you very much for the tour, Yicke. Though it\\\’s been a while since I\\\’ve read up on your families, I\\\’ve always been interested in how you decorate for your kingdom.
Very lovely houses … nice castle, too!

VERY cool! Thanks for the tour, Yicke. And I loved the ceiling, but yeah - it’s a lot of work - that’s why my simmies don’t have ceilings - lazy controller. LOL
Thanks again!

Great tour!!! I like seeing how everyone is connected and the behind the scenes stuff as well. So I suppose I’m weird right along with you. You really have done a fantastic job with decorating and making it all feel like the era you are writing in. I am very, very impressed.

Devin: But Calendra isn’t living with her parents any more Devin, she’s living with her husband and expecting baby number three.
Their house is far more modest than her parents, you’ll see in one of the future posts!
Lothere: Yup, it’s a small private well. For now they use it for drinking water, but who knows!
Thank you all for you attention and your kind remarks. Makes me very motivated to keep doing the RKC!
